Ignaz Schick studied saxophone in the eighties and started at the same time to experiment with analogue sampling methods and multi-track recording. Later his interest shifted towards found objects, self-made devices and electronics. He has explored many different techniques: vinyl manipulations, contact mics & pick-ups, sinewave & feedback sets. Recently he started to focus on playing turntables by using objects directly on the rotating metal plates. Based in Berlin since 1995, he has worked with numerous musicians – mainly in the fields of electro-acoustic music, object & field recording, noise and sound art.
