Author, editor, curator, Berlin and Leipzig.
Christoph Gurk is a curator, critic and translator who works on the interface between music, art, and theatre. In the nineties he has written and edited for various publications, thematically concentrating on independent music and culture industry. His main focus was "Spex", Germany's opinion-leading music magazine, where he worked as editor-in-chief for five years. More recently he has switched from journalism to curatorial activities. Together with Diedrich Diederichsen, Kodwo Eshun, and David Grubbs, he conceived "Re-Make/Re-Model - Secret Histories Of Art, Life, Pop, and The Avantgarde", a highly acclaimed interdiscplinary event for "steirischer herbst" in Graz. At the moment he works as a dramaturg for Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, Berlin's most controversial and hippest theatre institution, where he is responsible for the music programming as well as theory and art events.
