Thomas Meinecke, born in Hamburg in 1955, lives in an Upper Bavarian village. He studied theatre, modern German literature and communication science in Munich. In 1978 he founded, in collaboration with others, the cultural journal 'Mode & Verzweiflung', and in 1980 the band 'F.S.K.'. Since 1985 Thomas Meinecke has his his own radioshow on Bayern 2, Zündfunk. In 1986 his first book appeared, a collection of prose, published by Suhrkamp. In 1997 he was awarded the Heimito von Doderer Award and the Rheingau Literature Award. His actual novel is titled
Hellblau (Suhrkamp). Thomas Meinecke works as a writer, musician, literary critic and radio program maker.
