Ever since Canadian born Aaron Funk, AKA Venetian Snares, began releasing music in 1997 (on cassette) he quickly created a stir in the electronic music community. His work was instantly separated from the masses by an almost incomprehensible complexity that interplayed exquisitely with equally complex and intertwined melodies. In 2001 he was signed by electronic music pioneer Mike Paradinas (AKA Mu-Ziq) to his Planet-Mu record label based in London, UK. Since then, Venetian Snares has rocketed to the forefront of vanguard music today. His unique and difficult to describe music is easily at the very limits of what the human ear is able to understand musically, with multi-rhythmical beats that constantly switch time signature and tempo against some of the most beautiful and brutal soundscapes electronic music has yet delivered. His music is also the leading force in the development of a new sub-genre of electronic music called "Breakcore" for which he remains at the leading edge and seems to set the pace for myriad followers.
He has performed at many of the world's main music festivals including Sonic Acts (NL), All Tomorrow's Parties (UK), and was the closing act of the BBC's 2-day celebration for John Peel's life and career. Mr. Funk has also amassed a collection of more than 20 releases to date, and continues to surprise almost everyone with his prolific output of such unusually high standards and continual artistic advances as well; branching into further and further musical territories. The best example of which culminating in last years " HUNGARIAN RECORD" – a surreal exploration of haunting Hungarian themed string arrangements punctuated by aggressive programmed drums and digital noise both haunting and beautiful at the same time.
