Chris Clark burst on to the electronic music scene with the release of his debut album, Clarence Park, in 2001 on Warp – the foremost authority on IDM and distilled abstraction – while he was still a student at Bristol University. A speedy follow up with a second album, 2003’s Empty The Bones Of You, seemed to confirm that Clark would carry the flag for the traditional Warp Records sound. The enigmatic UK producer fell silent for a number of years after, however, to reemerge with a successive trilogy of works, Body Riddle (2006), Turning Dragon (2008), and Totems Flare (2009), all of which carried his signature brand of tense electronica that made us linger on aerial ambiences, grind our teeth on furious beats, and then sigh with reprieve to strangely soothing melodies.
 
2012 is proving a busy year for Clark. First, the release of his latest album, Iradelphic, clearly showed a shift from a more abrasive panorama towards bucolic works replete with harpsichord, looping guitars, orchestral drums, and other recorded instruments. Hot on the album’s heels is a 6-track EP, Fantasm Planes (release date: Sept. 4, 2012), itself inspired by the artist’s new live show set up, and that highlights more dancefloor oriented versions of three songs out of Iradelphic, plus three brand new tracks.
