Dapayk is the project name of musician and producer Niklas Worgt (1978), who since he began producing tracks under various guises in the early 90s has cycled through a full spectrum of styles, moving seamlessly from breakbeats to experimental to micro-house, sometimes all in the same record. Worgt bridges the spectrum across his releases between detail-obsessed experimentation and more structured and functional dancefloor fillers. His various monikers have included Frauds in White (drum and bass live act), Sonstware, and Persona Non Grata. He’s appeared only as Dapayk since the late 90s, but it wasn’t until 2001 that he made his first release, T.P.Z. under that name on his own label Mo’s Ferry Productions.
 
Mo’s Ferry was actually founded around 1997 in Erfurt, Thüringen, as a platform for Worgt’s different styles, in the same year the first demos and live performances were realized. The label later moved to Berlin. In September 2001 Worgt and childhood friend and collaborator Jan Langhammer, who had been involved in the production of various mix cds, launched Mo’s Ferry Productions GbR.
 
The label started to take off in 2003 when Worgt began getting recognition for his work as one half of Dapayk and Padburg, a duo project with his partner Eva Padburg. Padberg, who had been doing some of the graphic design for previous releases since the middle of the 90's, started to explore her musical side with the project, contributing lyrics and vocals.
 
The first 12” from the duo was Goddess, released with remixes from Matt John and Matthius Tanzmann. It was followed by think and speak in July of the same year, which had a remix by Whighnomy Brothers (Freude am Tanzen, Musik Krause, Jena) and the Mo’s Ferry label artists Enliven Deep Acoustics. Since then the musical orientation of the label has been constantly evolving, the releases are moving more towards grooving tech house.
 
Worgt has gone on to release music for labels such as Trapez, Orac, Contexterrior, Resopal, Lo Soul's Friends Of Tomorrow, Karloff, Textone, Ware, and Adjunct. For these works he’s known as Dapayk Solo, emphasisng the remove from his other projects. Dapayk Solo has a spare but dancefloor friendly sound that moves from minimal out to the further reaches of experimentally stripped down. Each very controlled, predominantly percussive sound remains perfectly isolated, but he brings in chaos and generousness with solid, funky bass and left field vocals.
 
The label has been going from strength to strength in recent years. Now past their 20th release and with two sub labels, Rrygular and Fenou, Mo’s Ferry has become quite a player in techno; their roster boasts artists such as Troy Pierce, Mossa, Marcel Knopf, Apendics.shuffle, and Luka & Lazo.
 
In 2006 Dapayk introduced his minimal techno alter ego Marek Bois on Trapez and his own quickly building sub-imprint, Rrygular, with a new series of very straight, un-diluted beat-driven releases.
