(UK, USA/Latitudes)
London based noisists
Shit and Shine are stubborn purveyors of sludgebass and massive percussion. Ever uncompromising, they often refusing to leave the stage, defiantly standing their ground despite having been unplugged. Shit and Shine, a band that refuses to subscribe to any formula of is the side project of
Craig Clouse (TODD). Two bass players, one toy keyboard and between ten and twenty drummers make for an extraordinary noise rampage. Hyper drum hammering, the screaming vocals, and bludgeoning bass riffs evoke PiL, Melvins, Merzbow and the Boredoms in a deranged din of Wolf Eyes-style cacophony. Their legendary mantric one riff/multi-drummer live shows have gained them a cult following. If the band refuses to stop playing even when the lights of the venue get switched on, so be it. If security has to carry band-members out while they’re still hitting the drums under thunderous applause of the audience, so be it. If the audience gets so excited that they start rhythmically destroying anything within reach. So be it.
Shit and Shine shows are absolutely unpredictable – and absolutely gorgeous.
