London-based Andrew Hung and Benjamin John Power have played together as Fuck Buttons since 2004. Starting out in Bristol, the two got together to explore their shared interest in
noise via keyboards, computers and children's toys. Their performances and internet presence garnered the Fuck Buttons attention from fans and the music press as they explored their
melodic side. After appearing at All Tomorrows Parties in 2007, Fuck Buttons released a single on ATP recordings, and followed up with their debut album,
Street Horrrsing in 2008.
Hung and Power both attended art school in Bristol where they met and began making noise music together. Power had been playing guitar in punk bands since sixteen, and Hung had a background in electronic music. They began playing frequently at small venues in the UK, and posted dozens of recordings on their band website available for free download. Their wild live performances earned the Buttons an invitation to the Supersonic, Truck and Portishead-curated ATP festivals in the second half of 2007, which in turn led to a big upsurge in music and mainstream media attention.
After signing to All Tomorrow's Parties-affiliated ATP Recordings, Hung and Power released a limited-edition 7" single "Bright Tomorrow" in late 2007, and their debut album,
Street Horrrsing (ATP Recordings) appeared in early 2008. In September and October 2008 they supported Mogwai on tours of the UK, Japan, USA and Canada, and put out a split single Mogwai/Fuck Buttons on Glasgow’s Rock Action Records.
