Antoine Chessex and Gilles Aubry are the core of the four member, free noise/improv/drone group Monno, along with Canadian Derek Shirly on bass and Marc Fantini on drums. Renowned improv saxophonist Chessex plays tenor sax with guitar amps, while Gilles Aubry adds vocals and laptop. Monno’s first album,
Candlelight Technology was released on Subdeviant Records in 2003. Their second album,
Error, appeared in 2006 on Subdeviant’s sister label Conspiracy, and their well received, ethereal third,
Ghosts (Conspiracy) was released in 2008.
Monno’s four original members – Chessex, Aubry, Fantini and Vincent Berberat (bass) – met in Lausane, Switzerland where each were involved in the experimental music scene in the late 90s.
