(* 1955 in Lahr in the Black Forest) pursued German and French Studies at Freiburg and Grenoble and graduated in Psychology from University of Hamburg in 1986. Co-initiated the Green Party/GAL Women’s List and was elected to the Hamburg City Council as a member of the GAL women’s faction in 1986. Turned independent in 1991. President of the University of Fine Arts Hamburg from 1989-2001, Senator for Science, Research and Culture for the Labour/Green Party transitional government in Berlin in 2001, and curator of the Hauptstadtkulturfond (Capital Cultural Fund) from February 2002 to April 2006. Has been on the supervisory board of the taz newspaper and the executive committee of the umbrella organisation Agenda Initiatives Berlin 21 since 2005. She lives as a freelance journalist and curator in Berlin and is author of a book about the liquefaction of borders between politics and culture,
