Graeme Sinden is well known for his collaborations with Switch and, more recently, with Joshua Harvey as the Count & Sinden, a production project responsible for the surprise hit ‘Beeper’ and signed to Domino records. Sinden’s DJ sets are a riotous mix of Baltimore club, baile funk and hiphop to RnB/soul, dancehall and house, Miami bass and grime, as heard on his renowned Kiss FM shows. Sinden is in high demand as a remixer.
Sinden started off his career in the music industry as an A&R and promotions manager at Loungin’ Recordings, the same label that released his first, self-titled solo EP in 2005. Sinden was soon taken under the wing of Dave ‘Switch’ Taylor, who taught him production techniques and became his DJing partner in crime. Taylor and Sinden now co-run the label Counterfeet and program the Get Familiar night in the main room of London’s Fabric every other month.
Sinden’s next collaboration was with Joshua Harvey, aka Herve, founding member of the ‘Machines Don’t Care’ collective: the Count and Sinden as they’ve become known released their first single in 2006, ‘Tamborzuda’, on Man Recordings. Their next single, ‘Beeper’, was a crossover club hit. Subsequent singles, ‘Hardcore Girls’ and ‘Mega’, have topped charts and been supported by top international DJs and producers. A new The Count & Sinden album is due for release on Domino Records in 2010.
As a solo producer, Sinden has carved out a name as a remixer, re-jigging tracks from Basement Jaxx and Mary J Blige to Plan B and Bonde Do Role, Bjork, Mujava, Armand van Helden, Robbie Williams and Mark Ronson to name a few. Sinden is also renowned known for his groundbreaking show on UK radio station Kiss FM, an eclectic selection of dance music, taking in funk carioca, Baltimore club, kudu, juke house, southern hiphop, dancehall and house.
