Justin Bennett is a sound and performance artist born in England in 1964 and since 1989 based in Den Haag. His focus is mostly on field recordings, which he uses to create installations, sound walks, sound pieces and performances that reflect on the reciprocity of sound and architecture and sound and image. His recent work involves research on urban development and the transformation of public space. His aural and visual works have been exhibited and broadcasted widely, including 'The City Amplified' at the Gemeentemuseum, Den Haag (2009), 'Zuidas Symphony' an audiowalk for a new business district in Amsterdam (2009), 'The Well' for the the 10th Istanbul Biennial, (2007) and 'Oracle' a work in public space for Trans(ient) City, Luxembourg (2007).
He is a founding member of the performance group BMB con and has played percussion and electronics in many music projects. At CTM.10 Bennett will perform the new piece 'Raw Materials' - a journey through an archive of urban sound.
