Lionel Marchetti is an influential figure in the world of musique concrète. Born in 1967, he began his music studies autodidactically before being taken under the wing of Xavier Garcia. He has been overseeing the electroacoustic studio CFMI at the Université Lumière Lyon 2 since 1989, and has also composed as part of the Groupe de Recherches Musicales in Paris since 1993, one of his favourite subjects being improvisation using microphones and loudspeakers. A dedicated improvisationalist and recipient of two Qwartz Electronic Music Awards, Marchetti has performed all over France, Europe, Japan, Australia and the US.
