Originally from Cologne, Anja Schneider is well known to fans of
groove-based electronic music as the presenter of long-standing Berlin-based radio show Dance Under the Blue Moon. She also heads up the successful Mobilee imprint, a label that counts Exercise One, Pan-pot, Sebo K and GummiHz and more on its roster. Schneider is a DJ and a producer with a string of successful 12”s behind her as well as a well-received debut
Beyond the Valley (2008).
In 1989, Anja Schneider became interested in electronic music and club culture via the events happening around Cologne, and by 1994, she was living in Berlin working as a producer in radio station KissFM, later Fritz Radio. Since 2000 she has hosted the weekly radio show Dance Under The Blue Moon every Saturday night presenting the new music being played out in Berlin. She has welcomed guests such Luciano, Tiefschwarz, DJ T., M.A.N.D.Y., Dirt Crew, Jay Haze, DJ Hell, John Tejada, and Tobi Neumann onto the show.
In 2005, Schneider launched her label Mobilee Records with Ralf Kollmann, and at the same time launched a monthly party at Berlin’s renowned WMF where she presented both Mobilee label artists and an array of international guests. Mobilee, with its discography now running into the 40s, has enjoyed great success on the international circuit with its solid productions. Schneider recently established the new sub-label Leena, an imprint reserved for Mobilee guests.
Schneider’s profile as a producer, often in collaboration with studio partners such as Sebo K and Paul Brtschitsch, has been steadily on the rise. Making her debut in 2004 on PIAS Germany with 'Tonite' – Schneider also compiled and mixed the
Loveradio Compilation, a double CD with 17 selected club tracks for PIAS – she found her stride with her Mobilee debut: a collaboration with Sebo K called
Side Leaps / Rancho Relaxo that reached number nine on the Groove magazine charts in 2005. She’s since done remixes for labels such as Dessous, Karmarouge, Tsuba and Immigrant and released a string of EPs. 2007’s
Loop Der Mer – co-written with Paul Brtschitsch – saw Schneider at the peak of her powers, with the single charting across the spectrum and the b-side, 'Belize' rated at number nine on Resident Advisor’s Top Tracks of 2007. Schneider’s debut album,
Beyond the Valley, also co-produced with Paul Brtschitsch, appeared in early 2008 and was well received.
A resident DJ at Watergate since 2003, Schneider is these days more likely to be found spinning at her label’s monthly nights at Weekend.
