Stefan Németh, member of Radian and Lokai and co-founder of Mosz Records, is a
guitarist/electronics musician born in Baden (Austria) who lives and works in Vienna. He has several albums with Radian to his credit and released his debut solo in 2008 on Thrill Jockey. Németh has played modular synths and guitar in the trio Radian since it formed in 1996 in Vienna. Radian has released albums on Rhiz, Mego, and Thrill Jockey, and on 2004’s
Juxtaposition the group recorded with John McEntire of Tortoise.
Németh is one half of the duo Lokai with Florian Kmet, they released their debut
7 Million in 2005.
Die Instabilität Der Symmetrie (dOc recordings, GROB, 2003) was a project Németh contributed to in 2003, an audiovisual work based on specific characteristics – in atmosphere and sound – of the room it takes place in, and is strongly connected to the visual part by video artist Michaela Grill. In the same year Németh founded the label Mosz with video artist Michaela Schwentner [jade*]. Mosz has released music by Martin Siewert and the Kapital Band 1, and has upcoming recordings from Pan American and
Fennesz.
Németh has worked with the creators of short films, experimental videos and installation artists since 2001 on projects mostly intended for special film festival programs. Németh released his debut solo,
Film, an extension of his filmscore works, in 2008 on Thrill Jockey. He is currently working on the soundscore for a film called "Optical Vacuum" by Dariusz Kowalski, and has recently teamed up with drummer
Steven Hess, Illinois native and member of Pan American and On (w/ Sylvain Chauveau).
